Global Entrepreneurship Week – Schedule

During one week each November, Global Entrepreneurship Week (“GEW”) inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. These activities connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors—introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities. Oklahoma State University is taking part in GEW with a full slate of activities across campus.

Saturday, November 10

  • Cowboy Bootcamp for Entrepreneurs in Tulsa (including consulting support for delegates). Mike Whitaker will be the Guest Entrepreneur Speaker.
    Mike Whitaker is the founder of Idea Gateway and owns Lucas Color Card, which he started in his garage in 1995 and built to $100 million in annual sales.
  • OSU participation in Tulsa Start Up weekend

Sunday, November 11

  • Mentoring sessions with Larry Calton, Visiting Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Riata Entrepreneurship Center. Larry is the executive director and co-founder of NTEC, North Texas Enterprise Center

  • Riata Business Plan Competition Intent to Compete opens

Wednesday, November 14

  • Riata Distinguished Scholar Lecture: “Entrepreneurship Research (1985-2009) and the Emergence of Opportunities” by Lowell Busenitz, Michael F. Price Chair in Business and Academic Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Oklahoma University, followed by recognition of the 2012 Riata Distinguished Entrepreneurship Scholar BUS 018, from 2:30pm to 4pm
  • Dilemmas and Debates in Entrepreneurship: “Dilemma of Starting a Venture Right out of School vs. Learning on Someone Else’s Dime” (open to the public) – featuring Emily Kern (Nickel Lane), Derrick Wallace (Juvo Group) , and Shoaib Shaikh (Xplosafe). Classroom Building 313 at 6:45pm

  • OSU-East Central High School Entrepreneurship Partnership: Four area Entrepreneurs will speak to and work with the East Central Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Scholars – Jan L. Laub (Twin Foods), Pam Russ (Red Dirt Pretzels), Alicia and Kim Bulleigh (Yumola LTD, Co.), Johnece Thompson (Brushy Creek BBQ Products, LLC)
  • The East Central High School and OSU School of Entrepreneurship partnership is being awarded a Great Inspirations award at the World Creativity Forum.
